We can hardly believe it has already been a year since we opened our doors in Noe Valley, but it is true. In honor of this very special occasion we threw our biggest party yet. San Francisco Supervisor Scott Wiener even came by and presented the John & Paula Foley, our wonderful owners, with a commendation from the Board of Supervisors. Scott had this to say about Folio Books, “Independent bookstores play such an important role in our neighborhoods. In addition to providing an important neighborhood service, they serve as community centers. Many are gone or hanging on by a thread. It’s exciting that Folio Books has bucked that trend by opening and by thriving. I was thrilled to be able to help Folio Books celebrate its first anniversary.”
And, to show our appreciation for all the support and love that our customers have given us in our first year all books were discounted 20% off during the party.
Next, Noe Valley author Bill Yenne talked about his book Beer: The Ultimate World Tour. There was Noe Valley brewed beer and snacks and a cocktail hour featuring a cocktail from Plumpjack & Spirits.
And last, but definitely not least, we featured French accordion music by Gary Breitbard. Andrew McIntye, who organized the art show and is our Operations Manager, summed it up well by saying, “A uniquely inspiring couple of days! What a treat the party was, and the Open Studios. Happy Times indeed.” For more pictures please check out our Flickr set.
