Word Week is Noe Valley’s annual literary festival. This is their 9th year! Events have been set for March 16-21, 2015 all across Noe Valley. A run down of events is detailed below.

Word Wit–Noe Valley Comedy Night
Monday, March 16, 7:30-9 p.m.
Caskhouse Bar and Bites on 24th Street

The headliner is Tom Ammiano, who had a career in standup comedy before becoming a city Supervisor and state Assemblymember. Marilyn Pittman of KLAW fame and other comedians will also perform.

Contemporary Irish Literature Celebration
Tuesday, March 17, 7-9 p.m.
Folio Books on 24th Street

Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with your Noe Valley neighbors and friends. Bay Area Irish and Irish-American writers will read—and sing—from their work. Readers are Renee Gibbons, Byddi Lee, Noe Valley’s Mary Jo McConahay, Ethel Rohan, and Eddie Stack. Free Irish music, food, and drink.

Pop-Up Book Club
Wednesday, March 18, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Folio Books on 24th Street

Noe Valley will read The Department of Speculation, a novel by Jenny Offill. It’s a New York Times Best Book and best seller. This is a great opportunity to discuss plot, characters, setting, tone and to voice your opinions and thoughts about this engaging book that charts the course of a marriage. Paperback copies of the novel are available at Folio Books. Start reading!

Middle school readers will talk about the Samantha Suttons series, written by Noe Valley’s Jordan Jacobs. RSVP Required: Pizza will be served!

Queer Words
Friday, March 20, 7-9 p.m.
Noe Valley Ministry on Sanchez Street

Come hear readings by LGBTQ authors. Readers are Gr Keer, Vincent Meis, Courtney Moreno, Monica Nolan, and Noe Valley’s Rob Rosen.

Peanut Butter or Jelly Party
Saturday, March 21, 11 a.m
Folio Books on 24th Street

Noe Valley resident Deborah Kelson reads from her delightful book Peanut Butter or Jelly. Deborah will read, conduct a real-time Peanut Butter and Jelly verses Jelly and Peanut Butter voting session, and lead an art project for kids to create their own Peanut Butter and Jelly characters to take home. Lunch, and good times, will be served!

The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook
Saturday, March 21, 3-4 p.m.

Word Week winds up with Jack Bishop, executive editor and device demonstrator extraordinaire from “America’s Test Kitchen”. Bishop will discuss his new book, The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook.
